You've probably spent more time than you'd like explaining your child before they even step through a door. New coach, new program, new set of well-meaning people who don't quite get it yet.

We started Proset Inclusive Sport because that shouldn't be the norm.

Our programs are built around the idea that every kid, teen, and adult can learn, grow, and play. We meet people where they are and go from there. No pressure, no judgment, no need to prepare us in advance. We've seen it all, and we're genuinely happy to be here.

This fall we're running small-group tennis and pickleball programs in Ottawa, Toronto, and Montréal. Groups cap at 8 so coaches can actually focus on each person. Neurodiverse participants, people on the spectrum, all abilities, this is your space.

And one thing we're proud of: no one ages out here. We have participants in their 30s and they belong just as much as the 8-year-olds.

Ottawa, Thursday evenings at Charles H. Hulse Public School

2605 Alta Vista Dr, Ottawa ON

Three programs running back to back Thursday evenings this fall:

  • Kids Adaptive Tennis, ages 6 to 12, Thursdays 6 to 7pm
  • Adaptive Pickleball, ages 13 to 35, Thursdays 7 to 8pm
  • Teen and Adult Adaptive Tennis, ages 13 to 35, Thursdays 8 to 9pm

Three programs back to back, so if you have more than one kid or a teen who wants to try both sports, Thursday works well. Pickleball is a great entry point if tennis hasn't clicked yet. Smaller court, faster to rally, and a lot of participants surprise themselves.

Toronto, Saturdays at Annette and Holland Bloorview

Annette Community Recreation Centre, 333 Annette St, Toronto ON:

  • Teen Adaptive Tennis, ages 13 to 25, Saturdays 2 to 3pm
  • Kids Adaptive Tennis, ages 6 to 12, Saturdays 4 to 5pm

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, 150 Kilgour Rd, Toronto ON (indoor):

  • Kids Adaptive Tennis, ages 6 to 12, Saturdays 4 to 5pm
  • Teen and Adult Adaptive Tennis, ages 13 to 25+, Saturdays 5 to 6pm

Holland Bloorview is a place a lot of Toronto families already know and trust. We're comfortable there, the courts are indoors so weather is never a factor, and Saturday afternoons have become something participants genuinely look forward to.

Montréal, Sundays and Thursdays across three locations

Complexe sportif Kirkland, 16950 Hymus Blvd, Kirkland QC (indoor, Sundays):

  • Kids Tennis, ages 6 to 12, Sundays 4:30 to 5:30pm
  • Teen and Adult Adaptive Tennis, ages 13 to 25+, Sundays 4:30 to 5:30pm

Both groups run at the same time on adjacent courts, so siblings of different ages can attend together.

Kirkland residents can apply for a residence discount on our website before registering.

École Edgewater, 220 Boul. Cardinal-Léger, Pincourt QC (indoor, Sundays):

  • Teen Adaptive Tennis, ages 11 to 25, Sundays 10 to 11am

Summit School, 1750 Rue Deguire, Saint-Laurent QC (Thursdays):

  • ATP Intro Course, ages 15+, Thursdays 7:30 to 8:30pm

The ATP course is for teens and young adults who want to take the next step and start coaching. We'll write more about that pathway in an upcoming post.

What the first session actually looks like

Low key. Coaches walk through what's going to happen before it happens. There's no performance, no comparison, no one watching to see if your child keeps up. Equipment is there if they need it. Just bring water, running shoes, something comfortable.

One thing parents often ask: is there just one coach? No. Every group has two or three coaches on court, including assistant trainers in training and volunteers. The ratio is one of the things that makes the sessions work, there's always someone available to support, redirect, or just encourage.

Programs run 8 weeks. If we cancel for weather we make it up or credit you, we don't just skip it and move on.

A note on friendships

This one comes up a lot and it matters. Friendships form in these groups. Real ones. Kids who came in unsure about group settings start looking forward to seeing the same faces every week. Teens cheer each other on. It's one of the things we're most proud of and it's not something we engineered, it just happens when you create a space where everyone genuinely belongs.

Tennis and pickleball are social sports for life. Learning them now, at whatever age, is something that keeps giving.

How to sign up

All programs are listed on our site and you can register directly online. Spots are limited to keep groups small, so if something looks right, grab it. And if you're not sure what's the best fit, just message us. We're happy to talk it through.

Every age, every ability, no one ages out.

Fall spots are open in Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal.
